Beginner’s Guide

WHAT TO WEAR?

To maintain your body heat in changing temperatures, it’s important to keep the following points in mind.
Your comfort comes first. Ideally, choose waterproof, breathable clothing that allows you to move easily.

Using a layering system is essential. Adjust the number of layers according to the temperature.
The layer closest to your skin should ideally be a thermal base layer made of polypropylene that breathes
and allows moisture to evaporate.

Loose, insulated ski pants are ideal for sliding sports. Avoid jeans.

For your upper body, a polypropylene garment is recommended. Avoid cotton. As for your jacket, you should wear
a winter coat with good insulation.

For socks, you should wear only one medium-thickness pair made of wool or synthetic fibers.

For your head, it is strongly recommended to wear a toque/beanie that covers your ears well.

EQUIPMENT

All our introductory sessions include equipment rental. After that, we recommend renting equipment for your first outings.

LESSONS

For your first time on snow, we strongly recommend contacting the TELUS Snow Sports School and booking an introductory session. This includes equipment rental (skis, boots, poles), a full-day lift ticket, and an introductory sliding lesson that will teach you turning and speed control.

BEGINNER TERRAIN

Beginner trails are marked with a green circle. Stoneham offers one of the best beginner terrains in the country with its easy, wide, and well-maintained slopes. At the end of your lesson, your instructor will let you know which trails will be the most enjoyable for you based on your skill level.
